Emily Groteboer-Distad, LPCC

Psychotherapist

It is my belief that the foundation of successful therapy lies in the relationship we build together. Healing happens in the context of trust, safety, and connection, and my priority is to create a space where you feel truly seen, understood, and supported. Therapy is not just about addressing symptoms—it’s about deepening your understanding of yourself, your relationships, and the world around you so that you can break free from patterns that have kept you stuck and move toward a more fulfilling life.

I began my career in 2013, working for the Air Force Special Operations Command, in support of Active-Duty Veterans and their families. I gained a deep understanding of the complexities of trauma and the stress that can ensue on both the mind and body. I pull from multiple evidence-based models including prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy, both of which I hold certifications. I am also trained in ERP and DBT skills and I have specialized experience working with clients who live with OCD and other anxiety disorders, grief and loss, depression, fertility challenges, parenting stressors and complex family relationships. I’ve worked in a range of settings to include residential, PHP and Out Patient care and I am a board certified clinical supervisor.

I enjoy connecting with clients of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Currently I see individuals 18+.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin or simply have questions, I invite you to reach out for a consultation.
